Visiting Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders in Peru

When you consider travel to Peru as one of the possible vacation destinations, you automatically remember Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, one of the new Seven Wonders of the World that any traveler must experience once in his lifetime.

Machu Picchu tours offer an insight into to the ancient Inca civilization, namely, the ancient Inca site that was presumable built in mid 1400′s for the purpose that still remains unknown to the modern world. Even the leading historians differ in their opinions what Machu Picchu site truly represented and why it was built at over 2400 meters above the sea level along such a rough mountain terrain. Some scientists strongly believe that Machu Picchu was an important agricultural site designed to test growing a variety of crops in different climates presented along the Inca trail to Machu Picchu, while others think that it was built as a prison site for the outcasts of the Inca society.

The site which was built by the Incas during 15th century, sits on top of a mountain peak 7,430 feet above sea level on the edge of the Urubamba Valley in Peru. It is 50 miles away from Cusco, which was the capital city of the Inc Empire. The site was brought to international attention by Hiram Bingham, who with the help of local boys, found the site in 1911.
