One mistake many people make when designing a bathroom is the placement of the toilet. Toilets should not be placed where it can be viewed from another room, it should pass through the open door. Another thing to consider, Electronics: TV should not be placed where they come into contact with water.

Design the wall covering and flooring materials in such a way that they will not be destroyed when this occurs.

5. Plan for the long term.

How long do you plan on using this bathroom? Will you be here for a few years or forever? Either way, the best choice is to plan for aging-in-place. This means installing grab bars and cabinetry that is easy for an elderly or disabled person to access, and anything else that will make navigating the space easier. Also, do you have children or are you planning on having them in the future? If so, design the bathroom so that it is safe for them, as well.
